Jessie J reveals album plans and Summertime Ball secrets on Capital

Jessie J joined Miranda Burns on Capital Anthems for a Bank Holiday takeover.

During the chat she looked back on her biggest chart moments and revealed exclusive details about her upcoming music and plans for Capital’s Summertime Ball with Barclaycard.

Jessie shared a memorable story about prematurely celebrating her 2012 hit Domino reaching number one.

“I was in Thailand with 20 of my best friends,” she recalled. “We all got naked and jumped in the pool to celebrate and then my friend got out and said Flo Rida was actually number one. We all just got out the pool naked and cold!”

It wasn’t at number one, but Jessie did claim the top spot the following week!

The singer also gave fans a long-awaited update on her new music, confirming that her fifth studio album will be released “later this year”.

Reflecting on her journey, she said: “I feel so grateful that I’m still even able to do this. ‘Do It Like A Dude’ came out 15 years ago – this is my fifth album… that was an exclusive.”

She also revealed that her latest single Living My Life had been sitting in her phone for five years before its recent release.

Jessie J will perform at Capital’s Summertime Ball with Barclaycard and hinted at backstage ambitions during the show. She told Miranda she’s eyeing up potential collaborations with fellow performers Mariah Carey and Will Smith.

“I know! Mariah Carey and Will Smith and me just hanging out. I’m just going to be staring at them like this from across the canteen,” she joked. When asked if she’d approach them for a collab, she replied: “One hundred per cent.”

Capital’s Summertime Ball with Barclaycard takes place this summer at Wembley Stadium, with the line-up including both Jessie J and Mariah Carey.
