Prestigious historic honour for Kiss presenter DJ Ace
DJ Ace has been awarded the Freedom of the City of London Award, which recognises individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the city and their fields.
Known for his passion for R&B, DJ Ace has championed the genre through Everything RNB, which he co-founded in 2018, bringing together enthusiasts and artists nationwide. He has made a lasting impact on the UK music scene through his commitment to promoting diversity in music.
Previously at BBC Radio and now with KISS, he has played a pivotal role in promoting British talent on an international scale.
He was diagnosed with renal failure in 2018, and in 2021 after three years of dialysis received a new kidney from a living donor. He has since used his platform to be a voice and advocate for organ donation especially within the black community, working closely with organisations like the ACLT, Kidney Care UK & NHS Blood and Transplant.
On receiving the award, DJ Ace said: “It’s an incredible honour to be recognised with the Freedom of the City Award. London has been the heartbeat of my career, and to be acknowledged in this way is truly humbling. This award will push me to continue advocating for the music and artists I believe in.”
The Freedom of the City dates back to 1237 and is often awarded to those excelling in areas like music, arts, and civic leadership. The official ceremony will take place at the Guildhall on Wednesday 23 October where DJ Ace will join a group of past recipients, who have contributed significantly to London’s cultural fabric.
