Shania Twain speaks to Radio 2 on taking this year’s Glasto Legend slot
Following this morning’s announcement that Shania Twain will perform in the Glastonbury Legends slot at this year’s festival, Gaby Roslin spoke to her on today’s Radio 2 Breakfast Show.
Gaby, who is in for Zoe Ball on the show, asked the singer songwriter how she is feeling about it on a scale of 1 to 10.
“Oh my gosh, ok I’m way up there at the top. I really am so excited,” she replied. “I mean the best part of it is being able to share it now. It’s so exciting, it’s been hard to keep it to myself to be honest. I’m really glad that it’s announced and I’m just buzzing.”
Responding to Gaby’s suggestion that she’s now officially a legend, Shania admitted that’s how it feels, adding: “You said it exactly right because there’s something very, there’s like a stamp that comes with this slot and I feel like, you know, I’m there, I’ve arrived at this slot you know, and it’s gonna be gorgeous, the sunset.
“Standing, I’ve watched some of the other performances and I’m already planning what I’m going to wear, you know, all that exciting stuff!”
She said that her performance will include all of her hits and she expects everyone to be singing along word for word.
Gaby wanted to know what a ten-year-old Shania would make of her going onto the Glastonbury stage in front of 200 000 people?
“Oh my god, honestly this is, would never have even entered my mind that I would ever even make it across the border from Canada to go anywhere,” she responded. “It was always my dream honestly to go around the world, but yeah I can’t believe it, I’m actually going to Glastonbury, I’m really, it’s happening, it’s happening guys,” she added.
