“Ah, there you are,” says Ken Bruce launching his new radio show
Ken Bruce was back on air this morning as he launched his highly anticipated brand new Greatest Hits Radio show.
Having been on gardening leave from Radio 2 for the last few weeks, Ken began by welcoming listeners saying: “Ah, there you are. Now last time we spoke we had the end from Abbey Road, now, together, we’re going back to the beginning for a brand new start,” before playing Come Together, the first song on The Beatles’ Abbey Road album.

The much-loved PopMaster returned at 10.30am, with Ken admitting he’d missed the quiz. Laura from Oxfordshire and Richard from Cheshire made history as the first contestants to take part in the quiz on Greatest Hits Radio, with Richard eventually triumphing with a full house of 39 points.
Station colleagues had already given Ken a raucous welcome to his new home when he arrived earlier that morning.
Ken said: “I’m thrilled to finally be back in a studio – where I belong – and this truly feels like coming home. It’s been so good to be welcomed not only by some familiar faces but new colleagues as well. And of course, to get to play PopMaster again. With any luck if today goes well they’ll let me come back tomorrow too.”
