What did Gary Barlow reveal to Zoe Ball about new Take That music?
Take That were guests on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 this morning.
Gary, Howard and Mark were there to talk about their live gig next year and there was news about some new music from the boys.
Speaking about the band getting together to headline the BST Hyde Park next year, Gary said how happy they are about it: “We worked it out yesterday, it’s seven or eight years since we were there last and it was awesome last time, so when we were offered it we were like, both hands… ‘yes let’s do it’. We’ve been four years away and it’s time to come back!”
Mark interjected: “How can you say no when someone asks if you want to play a gig in Hyde Park? We first came to London 30 odd years ago and we stayed in Wembley – we all shared a room and to come back and play a big park…!”
Zoe was surprised they all shared a room together and Mark recalled that he was poorly, and the rest of the band went out for an Indian meal and Robbie brought him back an apple!
“It was the first time I’d been to London, and I couldn’t go out,” Mark said. Howard joked that they all made him feel better when they returned with curry breath!
When they play the Hyde Park gig next July, they’re going to be supported by the original line-up of the Sugababes and the Script.
Take That the Musical is back and going on tour next year, plus their film, Greatest Day is released in May. Although they’re not in it, Gary said that it’s very emotional to watch.
As to whether there’s any new music in the pipeline, Zoe asked the question and Gary replied: “We have started a little bit of writing, but we’re not due to officially start until the new year. Hopefully [there’ll be an album out] next year, but we’ve got to write some hits!”
