KISS DJ Tyler West “absolutely gutted” at Strictly exit
He’s had an amazing eight weeks and make it to Blackpool, but now his Strictly journey is at an end.
Tyler joined fellow KISS presenters Jordan & Perri on their Breakfast show this morning, telling them that he’s really happy and proud to get as far as he did in the competition, but he’s also disappointed.
“I am absolutely gutted and everyone keeps saying ‘just be strong, you’ve done so much’ but it’s alright to not feel okay about it…you put in hours and hours, me and Di really did that, we trained our hardest and unfortunately it was our time to leave on the weekend,” Tyler told the Breakfast hosts.
He continued: “Honestly, I’m over the moon that I got to be part of it, I’m so grateful for everyone. The fact that somebody picked up their phone and voted for me it’s mad! It’s the maddest feeling in the world, so I’m so grateful to everyone that supported along the journey.”
Tyler also shared his favourite Strictly memory: “There’s so many,” he said, “But our first ever dance that we did I had to do this big bad boy lift at the end, and everyone was saying ‘Tyler you go gym you’ve got this’ and I was thinking doing this in front of millions of people is a completely different thing.
“Dianne’s a human and I’ve got to lift her above my head and spin her round. But once we did that first dance, I felt like honestly I could do anything in the world.”
He also revealed that his mum had a Strictly dream of her own by meeting Graziano and the fact that her son danced in Blackpool!
Tyler’s mum, Deb called in to the show, saying it’s been a crazy ride but her son is their hero: “I am the proudest mum in the whole wide world right now,” she admitted. “And what a way to go out, I mean Blackpool! Ty, when you think about it your first job was in McDonalds and on Saturday night you were dancing in the Blackpool room that’s mental!”
The KISS Afternoon presenter also tipped fellow radio host Fleur East to win: “It’s got to be East meets West doesn’t it, it’s got to be Fleur, she’s amazing,” he added.
