UK rap star Giggs has revealed that he wrote part of his hit track Talking the Hardest while walking to meet someone he was having an affair with.
The rapper joined Shayna Marie and Robert Bruce on Capital XTRA Breakfast this morning to discuss his career and announce a major London show at OVO Arena Wembley this December.
During the conversation, Giggs opened up about the story behind Talking the Hardest, which he described as a track written during a period when he was not ready to settle down.
He explained that he was living with his son and the child’s mother at the time but admitted he was also having affairs and enjoying life outside the family home.
Giggs said: “At that time, I was living with ML and his mum and at that time I was moving mad. Affairs and all that. I wasn’t ready to grow up.”
He continued: “I was a good dad, but I was still outside, one of those ones. Young, gangster, and I wrote Talking the Hardest walking to a next ting’s house.”
Shayna Marie was taken aback by the revelation, responding: “Oh my days.”
Giggs went on to explain that the track came together in two parts, with some of the lyrics written at home and the rest composed while he was on his way to meet the other woman.
He said: “Even when I’m in Peckham, I wrote half of Talking the Hardest at ML’s mum’s house, our house, and I wrote the other half walking.”
The conversation also turned to social media, when Shayna Marie asked Giggs what appeared most frequently on his Instagram Explore page.
After checking what she meant, the rapper gave a cheeky answer that left the presenters laughing.
Giggs said: “I’m a man, it’s baddies on there! It’s not my fault, I don’t know why it’s there.”
Robert Bruce joined in with the joke, saying: “It just comes up innit! What happened!”
Giggs responded: “You get me!”
Shayna laughed at the exchange, joking that the rapper seemed to have no idea how the pictures had found their way onto his page.
Fans will be able to see the rapper take to the London venue for the show, which was announced during his appearance on Capital XTRA Breakfast.
