Radio X Oasis ticket giveaway raises huge amount for charity

Yesterday morning, Chris Moyles gave an important update on his Radio X Breakfast show following the Oasis ticket giveaway last week.

He revealed that the voluntary donations made by listeners hoping to get hold of the tickets raised an enormous amount for the station’s official charity, Global’s Make Some Noise!

Chris explained: So, last Friday we gave away a pair of tickets to see Oasis, and the way we did it – and we spoke to the Oasis camp about it, and they said, ‘Sure, knock yourselves out’.

“So, we had a pair of tickets to see them at Wembley and we said, ‘Look, if you text in and give us a voluntary donation to our charity, we might be able to make a little bit of money’.

“And so, loads of you said, ‘Yeah, fine. I’ll buy that.’ £5 to the charity, a fiver, five quid, and then people went into the draw to win the tickets.

“We gave away the tickets on Friday, and then as soon as that happened by the way, loads of people cancelled their £5 donations.”

He then spoke to those who didn’t cancel after not winning, adding: “If it makes you feel better about what you did, we’ve added up all the £5 together and because of you, because of the Radio X listeners, because you are brilliant and we waived tickets in front of your faces, the amount that we raised was…

“£52,000.”

Then, saying a big thank you, Chris said: “All of that money goes to Global’s Make Some Noise. So, thank you, that’s £52,000 we raised from one pair of Oasis tickets. That’s all on you, that’s none of it on us, it’s all on you. So, if you text in, thank you very much!”
