Amy Winehouse tops all-time greatest covers in Radio 1’s Live Lounge
To celebrate twenty-five years of Radio 1’s Live Lounge, the station revealed the top twenty-five performances as voted for by the Radio 1 presenters.
Amy Winehouse’s cover of The Zutons’ Valerie – performed in 2007 – has claimed the top spot voted as the number one Live Lounge cover of all time.
The Top Ten Radio 1 Live Lounge Covers are:
- Amy Winehouse – Valerie (The Zutons cover)
- Arctic Monkeys – Love Machine (Girls Aloud cover)
- Arctic Monkeys – Hold On We’re Going Home (Drake cover)
- Adele – Promise This (Cheryl cover)
- Ben Howard – Call Me Maybe (Carly Rae Jepsen cover)
- Disclosure ft. Sam Smith – Hotline Bling (Drake cover)
- 30 Seconds to Mars – Stay (Rihanna cover)
- Bastille – We Can’t Stop (Miley Cyrus cover)
- RAYE – Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush cover)
- Dua Lipa – Do I Wanna Know (Arctic Monkeys cover)
Amy Winehouse’s cover of Valerie was first-ever performed in the Maida Vale studios for Radio 1’s Live Lounge presented by Jo Whiley.
The famous cover gained a lot of attention and went on to be officially released and included on Grammy-awarding winning musician and DJ Mark Ronson’s second studio album, Version.
