Cludia Winkleman gives emotional farewell to Radio 2 listeners
Claudia Winkleman told her BBC Radio 2 listeners that she’s allergic to goodbyes as she came to an end of her last show on the station yesterday.
She announced that she was stepping down from the show last December to spend more time with her children as they are “growing up inordinately fast”.
In an emotional farewell, Claudia, who replaced Graham Norton on the show in 2021, told her listeners: “We’ve come to the end and I’m allergic to goodbyes, but I do want to say many thanks yous, I would like to thank Helen and everyone at Radio 2.
“But my biggest thanks are to you the listeners, I have worked in telly for 24 years and I have never been more nervous than I was taking over for Graham, you were warm welcoming and so lovely to me… I love your weekly messages and updates; I just want to say thank you so much.”
She then asked listeners to “be lovely” to Romesh Ranganathan, who is taking over the show, and traffic news reporter Sally Boazman.
Then, saying: “This is from me, to you and it could only be this,” Claudia played her final song, Wonderwall by Oasis.
