Dolly Parton’s message to Elton John on Zoe Ball’s Breakfast Show
Dolly Parton was a guest on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 this morning.
As you might expect at this time of the year, there was a lot of chat about Christmas, which Dolly loves.
“I never tour around Christmas. I’m always home with family doing the basic get-together with my husband’s people and my people and eating too much,” she told Zoe.
As for what Dolly has been doing recently, she said: “Well, I’m writing a rock ‘n’ roll album right now. So, I have a lot of new rock things that I’m writing. So I have been, the last few months, over periods of time, I’ve been working on that since they said I was going to be going in the whole thing.
“I thought, well I’m going to have to earn it. So it seemed like this was the time to do it. So I’ve been doing that. I’m working on that album and that will be coming out sometime next fall hopefully, in time for the Christmas season next year. And so I’m going to do a lot of classic songs that are rock songs and then a few that I’ve written.”
One of the songs she’s recently recorded for the album is Elton John’s Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me and she revealed that she sent a message to Elton asking if he would sing with her on the track or possibly play piano.
She added: “So if y’all get to see him, say Dolly wants you to sing on her record! So anyway, but I love him, just tell him to enjoy it because it was great fun for me.”
Dolly and Elton performing together – now that would make an interesting combination!
