Louis Tomlinson guests on Hits Radio ahead of new song release

Louis Tomlinson was a guest on the Gethin, Gemma and Dave breakfast show on Hits Radio this morning just hours before the much-anticipated release of his new track.

Two of Us was released globally at 1pm today after a huge build up to it on social media and radio.

Earlier on Hits Radio he told Gethin, Gemma and Dave that the week before the release was dragging a bit because he was so keen to get the song out.

Louis also admitted to being nervous about the new release as he hadn’t released anything new for a while and because the song is personal to him. He said, “So far, the fans have been incredible, so I can’t complain.”

Rather than a normal interview, Gethin said they thought they’d get questions from fans around the world because when they’d announced Louis was to be on the show, the station had been inundated with comments on social media and even videos with questions. You can hear them in the video below.

The song, Two of Us is about the impact his mum’s death from leukaemia two years ago had on him. Up until now he’s remained very private about it, but previously speaking to Radio 1’s Newsbeat, he said that writing the song was therapeutic.

Louis told Newsbeat, “I’m not at the stage in my grief where I’m going to open the first verse and burst into tears.

“It was something I needed to get off my chest. I used to lean on my mum for a lot of things – anytime I needed advice on something she would be the first call I made.”
