Classic BBC Radio comedy series returns with new cast
The classic radio comedy I’m Sorry, I’ll Read That Again is being revived for BBC Radio 4 Extra as a ‘Best Of’ with a new cast, new musicians but old gags and plenty of songs.
I’m Sorry, I’ll Read That Again was a BBC Radio comedy which influenced The Goodies and Monty Python’s Flying Circus and was the forerunner to I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue. The original featured John Cleese, Graeme Garden, Bill Oddie, Tim Brooke-Taylor, David Hatch and Jo Kendall.
The show’s mix of anarchic madness, silly puns, catchphrases and manic characters ran from 1964 to 1973 and had a youth following that made live recordings seem more like a rock concert than a comedy show.
This four-part revival came off the back of a critically-acclaimed sell-out theatre tour, adapted and directed by Barnaby Eaton-Jones from scripts and songs by Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie.
It was recorded before a live audience at The Playhouse in Cheltenham and included cameos from Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graeme Garden and Jo Kendall.
