Flight cancellation forces Rylan to miss Radio 2 show

Rylan Clark was forced to miss his BBC Radio 2 show after flight cancellations left him stranded in Nice.

The presenter was due to host Rylan On Saturday from 3pm until 6pm yesterday, but Mark Goodier stepped in after Rylan was unable to return to the UK in time following a short holiday in the south of France.

Sharing an update on Instagram, Rylan apologised to listeners and thanked Goodier for taking over. He joked: “Soz about today’s show. I blame everyone but myself. Genuinely had it all sussed out and then flights all cancelled. Thanks Mark for stepping in you legend. Gonna have a rosé and think of you all.”

Rylan also phoned into Emma Willis’s Radio 2 programme to explain what had happened. He said he had travelled to Nice with his partner and friends after clearing his work diary for the week and had planned to fly home early enough to present his Saturday afternoon show.

He said: “I was flying back very early this morning, went to the airport and it was like ‘no!’. At one point I was going to get on an eight hour train, which I still would have been late for work, but I would have got home today. But in the end I thought I would stay for another day.”

Rylan added that although he could not make the programme, listeners would be in safe hands with Mark Goodier before joking that he was enjoying “a nice rosé with some ice cubes in it.”
