Matinee Radio goes backstage with Take That

Take That and Five To Five have spoken to Matinee Radio ahead of their debut performance at Manchester’s Opera House.

The exclusive show, presented by Sophie Sveinsson, will be broadcast next Saturday (Sept 16th) as part of their Backstage… series which includes shows from the likes of Collabro, John Barrowman and the cast of the new Addams Family production.

Jamie Griffiths, Director of Matinee Radio told RadioToday: “It’s great to get the opportunity to document the start of a brand new musical. We’ve followed Gary’s musical career on Broadway (Finding Neverland) and the West End (The Girls) – he’s already created some fantastic shows but this collaboration is the most exciting yet. Five To Five are going to be stars!”

The Band, featuring Take That and Five To Five, is a new musical about what it is like to grow up with a boyband. It follows the group of friends as they are reunited 25 years later. The show began in Manchester on Friday 8 September, with national press night on Tuesday 26 September.

Matinee Radio has now been running in the UK for two and a half years and broadcasts nothing but songs from the greatest musicals online and via apps.
