Earlier today on her Breakfast Show, Sara Cox unveiled the Radio 2 DJ stage line-up for Radio 2 in the Park.
Sara revealed which Radio 2 presenters will be taking to the DJ stage when the station’s flagship music festival returns to City Park in Stirling from 11 to 13 September.
A talking point from the announcement was Jeremy Vine securing his first ever DJ stage appearance after spending the week campaigning on air for a place in the line-up.
His brand-new set, Hits and Headlines, will make its debut on Sunday 13 September alongside performances from Shaun Keaveny, Jo Whiley, Gary Davies, Romesh Ranganathan, OJ Borg and Vernon Kay.
Saturday’s DJ stage programme features Tony Blackburn’s Golden Hour, Shaun Keaveny’s Sounds of the 70s, Paddy McGuinness’ School Disco, DJ Spoony’s Good Groove, Gary Davies’ Sounds of the 80s, Jo Whiley’s Shiny Happy Playlist and Rylan’s Rybiza Anthems.
The festival begins on Friday 11 September with a DJ Pre Party led by Sara Cox with Wower Hour, DJ Spoony with Good Groove, Gary Davies with Sounds of the 80s, Michelle Visage with Handbag Hits and Rylan with Rylan’s Rybiza Anthems.
Across the weekend, DJs will be on the decks from noon in City Park, with music from across several decades including 70s, 80s and 90s favourites, hip hop classics and well-known singalong hits.
Away from the DJ stage, Chaka Khan will headline Saturday night while Simple Minds will close the festival on Sunday with what is billed as the band’s only UK performance this year.
The live music line-up also includes The Script, Emeli Sandé, ABC, Jack Savoretti, Lulu and Texas on Saturday, with Level 42, James Blunt, Blue, Cast, Appleton and Deacon Blue performing on Sunday.
Ahead of the festival, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds will broadcast a range of special programmes, giving audiences a preview of Radio 2’s annual live music event and what they can expect across the weekend.
