Graham Norton reveals Kylie moment while filming Madonna documentary

Graham Norton has shared behind the scenes stories from filming his new BBC programme with Madonna, including an unexpected encounter with Kylie Minogue.

Speaking to Gary Davies on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show today, Graham discussed Madonna & Graham, which airs tonight on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The presenter looked back at joining Madonna on stage during her Rebel Heart Tour after being asked at the last minute to take part in a dance routine at London’s O2 Arena.

He said: “Everything in me was saying no, no, do not do this. It will be so humiliating. But my 21 year old self would have punched me in the face if I hadn’t said yes.

“You can’t be embarrassed. You’ve just got to go. It was some epic dad dancing at the O2. It’s mortifying, I can’t watch it back, but I did enjoy it at the time.”

Graham also revealed one of the biggest surprises while filming the documentary came when Kylie Minogue appeared unexpectedly during a conversation with Madonna.

He said: “We were in a little bar at the top and I think I can say this now because it’s leaked to the papers today. Me and Madonna were there and the bartender turned around. Kylie. Kylie Minogue. I was in a room with Madonna and Kylie Minogue!”

Asked by Gary Davies whether he had heard Madonna’s forthcoming album, Graham said he had listened to much of it while filming with producer Stuart Price.

Although he still would not confirm rumours of a collaboration with Kylie Minogue, he praised the new music and the creative partnership between Madonna and Stuart Price.

He added: “I think it’s a really good album. Stuart Price has done a brilliant job. Madonna obviously loves working with him and the way they write music together is fascinating.”
