Heart Scotland turns tartan for World Cup

Heart Scotland Breakfast has marked Scotland’s World Cup place with a tartan studio takeover.

Grado was joined by James McFadden to surprise Des Clarke and Adele Cunningham, after arriving early to transform the studio with tartan wallpaper, carpet and Scottish flags.

The stunt formed part of Heart Scotland’s wider World Cup activity, with the station also launching a No Scotland, No Party playlist on Global Player.

An outdoor billboard campaign is also running across Scotland, while Heart Scotland’s social media logos will temporarily include the Scottish flag on Friday.

In the studio, Des described the makeover as “like Rod Stewart’s living room” and said it felt like being “at a Bay City Rollers gig.”

James said Grado had not told him exactly what he would be doing, before joining the presenters to talk about Scotland’s prospects in the tournament.

Asked about the national team’s chances of getting out of the group stage, James said he believed Scotland could do it.

He said Scotland had learnt lessons from the last two European Championships and added: “I think this is the one.”

Adele suggested the station should keep the studio decorated throughout the World Cup, saying it looked amazing.

Heart Scotland Breakfast with Des Clarke, Adele Cunningham and Grado airs weekdays from 6am to 10am across the UK and on YouTube.
