Mel C talks new album, Spice Girls and fitness on Heart and Radio X
Melanie Chisholm has been making the radio rounds to promote her new album Sweat!
She shared candid moments about her Spice Girls past, future plans, and personal fitness on both Radio X and Heart Breakfast.
The singer joined The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X and Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, giving listeners a mix of nostalgia, honesty and humour as she reflected on her career and current projects.
On Radio X, Mel C spoke openly about the Spice Girls catalogue, even naming her least favourite track when asked. She pointed to “Voodoo”, a lesser-known song from the Greatest Hits era, admitting she has never been a fan.
She said: “It’s something from the Greatest Hits called ‘Voodoo.’ It’s a song I’m not a fan of,” adding that every artist has tracks they feel less connected to over time.
The conversation also touched on classic hits, with Mel C recalling details around Who Do You Think You Are?, linking it to Comic Relief and the group’s early chart success.
Over on Heart Breakfast, attention quickly turned to the possibility of a Spice Girls reunion, as the group approaches its 30th anniversary this July. While not confirming any plans, Mel C suggested the band is unlikely to follow expectations.
She said: “It would have been perfect, but we are the Spice Girls, we don’t like to do things how people expect them to be done,” leaving the door open while keeping fans guessing.
Away from music, Mel C also spoke about her approach to fitness, revealing a shift away from the high-intensity cardio routines of the 1990s towards strength training.
She described herself as “more of a gym girly” now, while still enjoying running and outdoor exercise, but admitted she is wary of taking on a full marathon distance despite completing shorter events in the past.
However, she said her daughter is encouraging her to take on the challenge, adding that it may be difficult to say no when pushed.
Mel C also shared her enthusiasm for the London Marathon atmosphere, having recently been involved in the event, describing it as inspiring and full of powerful personal stories.
