London Gatwick’s North Terminal has been temporarily renamed the Jordan North Terminal in a surprise tribute to the Capital Breakfast host.
Passengers arriving at the airport today will see new signage across the terminal, marking the unexpected name change for one day only.
The idea began earlier this week when Jordan North, Chris Stark and Siân Welby challenged Capital Breakfast listeners to suggest the most unexpected places the show could appear across the UK.
Listeners came up with plenty of suggestions, but one idea quickly caught the attention of the presenters: renaming London Gatwick’s North Terminal the Jordan North Terminal.
After hearing the suggestion live on air, Tui contacted Capital Breakfast to see whether the unusual idea could actually become a reality.
This morning, Jordan, Chris and Siân travelled to London Gatwick to see the result for themselves, discovering that the airport’s North Terminal had officially been given the temporary new name.
New Jordan North Terminal signage was placed throughout the airport, meaning passengers travelling through Gatwick today can say they have flown from the Jordan North Terminal.
Jordan said: “From something that started out as a bit of a laugh on Capital Breakfast to actually now being real and seeing ‘Jordan North Terminal’ written across Gatwick airport is completely surreal, I can’t believe we’ve made it happen.”
He added: “If I’m being honest, I’m not sure I want them to change it back!”
The temporary renaming gives Capital Breakfast listeners the chance to see one of their suggestions brought to life, after what began as an on air challenge turned into a real change at one of the UK’s busiest airports.
