Jimmy Carr jokes about never retiring as he talks surgery on Radio X

Jimmy Carr said he may never step away from the stage during an appearance on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X today.

Carr told Chris Moyles and co-host Dominic Byrne that “dying with your boots on sounds pretty good” as he spoke about his love of performing and how work still feels “more fun than fun,” adding that he remains grateful to do a job he genuinely enjoys.

During the conversation, Moyles suggested that Carr could become one of comedy’s long-lasting figures, saying he expects him to keep performing for decades.

Carr agreed that he hopes to follow in the footsteps of older comedy greats who remain active and still draw audiences, explaining that nights off feel strange because he prefers being busy and creating new work.

He also discussed having cosmetic procedures, describing the experience as “fun” but “a little bit addictive.”

Carr joked about the details of his hair transplant, telling listeners he was not “waiting by the phone for news of a motorcycle accident” to borrow someone else’s hair, before explaining how the process involves moving follicles from the back of the head to the front.

As the trio continued to talk, Dominic Byrne asked if it was “too late” for him to try a transplant, prompting Carr to continue the bit with more detail about how the sensation in his neck now makes him “look like Tintin.”

He went on to say that treatments can be tempting because people often want to keep adjusting their appearance, adding that “you can’t polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter!”
