Kylie Minogue has kicked off the festive season early by launching her brand-new Christmas single XMAS on BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show with Scott Mills.
The global pop superstar joined Scott live this morning to celebrate ten years since her Kylie Christmas album first launched, announcing a new expanded edition, Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped), featuring four new tracks.
Speaking on the show, Kylie revealed she secretly recorded the new songs during breaks on her Tension tour earlier this year.
“There may have been some sessions in between breaks on the Tension Tour where I probably should have been doing nothing, but no, I went to the studio and worked on new Christmas songs because it’s the tenth anniversary of my Christmas album and I thought, why not,” she said.
Kylie explained that while she didn’t have time for full festive decorations in the studio, she brought a small piece of Christmas cheer with her.
“I had a Christmas stocking from when I recorded my CBeebies Bedtime Story, The Australian Twelve Days of Christmas. I thought, I’ve got to take something Christmassy – that’s it,” she laughed.
After debuting XMAS live on air, Kylie promised to visit the Radio 2 studio again before Christmas to teach Scott Mills the song’s dance routine. She also teased another new track, Office Party, which will feature on the Fully Wrapped edition, along with an Amazon exclusive.
Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped) arrives later this year, marking a decade since the original festive album became a seasonal staple for fans around the world.
