Perrie Edwards tells Capital why she remade her debut album Perrie

Perrie Edwards joined Capital Breakfast this morning to talk about her upcoming debut solo album Perrie.

She revealed that she scrapped and remade it completely after deciding the original version wasn’t authentic enough.

The former Little Mix star admitted she thought the record was ready last year but then realised it didn’t feel true to her as an artist. “I thought my album was finished like last year and then I sat back and I thought nah, it’s not it,” she explained, as Will Manning responded: “Oh, one of those ones.”

She said she trusted her instincts, adding: “You just know in your gut and you know in your heart if it’s not one hundred per cent true and authentic and what you want. I just kind of took a bit of time off, went back in the studio and I just found this new lease of life.”

Perrie went on to say she is now extremely proud of the final result. “Now my album is so good, I’m sorry but it is. I love it so much,” she laughed. Will encouraged her, saying: “Look, you’ve got to be your biggest cheerleader about yourself here.”

During the chat, Perrie also revealed that the record was almost called The La La Room but she decided against it, explaining that the title wouldn’t make sense at this stage in her career.

“If Harry Styles did it, it would be a slay and everyone would be like oh my God, that’s so quirky. But if I did it, they would be like what? because I’m not quite as established yet,” she explained.

Instead, she chose a self-titled name, saying it felt right to launch her first solo album with something simple and personal. “So, calling it Perrie, self-titled then it’s me and it’s what I want to do, it’s Perrie.”

The album Perrie is due for release later this year.
