Alex Warren admits he hated his hit song Ordinary at first

Ordinary singer Alex Warren joined Fleur East, Will Best, and James Barr on the Hits Radio Breakfast Show this morning to talk about his chart-topping single.

His song Ordinary is currently the biggest-selling track of the year, marking a huge moment for the American social media star turned pop singer.

But despite its global success, Alex revealed he really wasn’t a fan of it when he first wrote it.

He told the hosts: “When we first wrote it, I actually hated it. I hated it when it was just us on a guitar, like, we didn’t really do anything to it.”

Alex explained that while writing it, he didn’t feel it sounded like something he would ever release.

“I was like, ‘Oh, it just doesn’t sound like a record I’d put out.’ And then I sang it and I was like, ‘Okay, let’s see where this goes,’” he admitted.

He said everything changed when they started producing the track in full and adding extra layers to its sound.

“We started putting stuff into the file and it sounded insane when we started adding like the choir and everyone on top of it, and I was like, ‘Holy shoot. This is amazing.’”

Ordinary has now turned Alex into a rising pop star, with fans around the world loving his emotional vocals and honest songwriting.

His journey from internet fame to music charts has been a rapid one, but he remains focused on creating tracks that feel authentic to him.
