Emma Grede bought £165 diamond Gucci thong to celebrate success

Emma Grede has revealed that her first ever ‘I’ve made it’ purchase was a £165 Gucci thong encrusted with diamonds.

The Dragons’ Den star, who appeared on Capital XTRA Breakfast with Robert Bruce and Shayna Marie this morning, said she used to pull the diamond G out of her jeans to show it off in Stratford.

Emma told them: “Guys, this is so embarrassing. I bought a Gucci thong with a diamond G on it, and I used to pull the G out of the jeans so you could see it. You don’t spend £165 on a pair of knickers and not show it.”

She added that she still kept the bag, box and receipt sleeve from the purchase, laughing about how proud she felt at the time.

During the interview, Emma also spoke about the major differences she sees between men and women in business, explaining that men often bounce back from failure far more easily.

She said: “Men will just make mistakes and dust themselves off, and they say, ‘It was fun.’ I’m like, ‘Your business was burning to the ground, you lost like $500 million!’ And they’re like, ‘That was fun! And then I picked myself up and I went again!’”

Emma added that women should also learn from how men treat business setbacks, saying she wants her podcast to help level the playing field.

She also said people pleasers can never be leaders, explaining, “There’s nothing in me that is trying to be a people pleaser. I don’t believe that you can be a people pleaser and a leader. That’s never going to work.”

Emma’s new podcast aims to inspire women to think about their earning potential and business resilience in the same way men often do.
