Maisie Adam writes football chants for Lionesses live on Radio X

Comedian Maisie Adam appeared on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X this morning to unveil her brand-new hymn book of England football chants.

Maisie is heading to Switzerland this week for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 tournament, where the Lionesses will begin their defence of their European Championship title.

She joked that she fancies herself as ‘the new Lennon and McCartney’ after writing a series of chants inspired by iconic British artists including Oasis, Culture Club, and Kaiser Chiefs.

Speaking to Chris Moyles and Dominic Byrne, Maisie explained that Greene King pubs have committed to showing every single minute of every game across the tournament.

She said: “Loads of people are going to be watching it across the country here. Because last time obviously we were the host nation, the Euros fever just imposes itself upon you, doesn’t it? Now it’s in Switzerland, so a lot of people are going to be doing watch parties or going to the pub.”

Maisie added that women’s football fans often struggle to find pubs screening their matches, saying: “Do you know the amount of times I’ve had to go to a pub that is showing all of the men’s sports… sometimes they’re showing F1. And I think if you’re going to the pub to watch F1 – come on!”

She presented Chris with copies of the chant book to keep, describing it as a hymn book to be shared among friends down the pub during games.

Chris asked if she had written them herself, to which Maisie proudly replied: “Yeah! Mate, I think I might be the new Lennon and McCartney. Both of them in one.”

The UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 kicks off this week, with England among the favourites once again.
