Sharleen Spiteri has joined Sara Cox on-air ahead of Texas opening Radio 2 in the Park in Stirling.
The Texas frontwoman appeared on Sara’s Breakfast Show this morning, with the band preparing to give the first live performance at the festival tomorrow.
Speaking about Texas’ preparations, Sharleen said: “I’m match fit because I’ve had a couple of days’ rehearsals.”
She explained that she had been in Scotland rehearsing with the band and would be heading back to rehearsals after her appearance on Radio 2.
Sharleen also revealed that brass musicians would be joining the band for the performance, saying: “The brass is coming in, so we’re doing a little bit of a rehearsal with them today, they’re arriving.”
Texas will open the live music at Radio 2 in the Park in Stirling, with the band looking forward to getting the festival weekend underway.
Sharleen added: “We’re kicking the whole weekend off, which we’re very much looking forward to, so everybody’s got to get ready to party.”
The appearance comes as BBC Radio 2 prepares for a weekend of live music in Stirling, with the station bringing its Radio 2 in the Park event to Scotland.
Elsewhere on Radio 2, Jo Whiley celebrated emerging Scottish artists with a live broadcast from Tolbooth.
The broadcast last night put the spotlight on new Scottish musical talent, adding another Scottish focus to Radio 2’s coverage around this weekend’s festival.
For Texas, the Stirling performance marks the start of the weekend’s live action, with Sharleen telling Sara Cox that the band is ready to take to the stage.
The interview also gave listeners an insight into the preparations taking place before the performance, including rehearsals with the additional brass musicians.
