Heart Breakfast to air Special Royal Broadcast live from Isles of Scilly
Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden have revealed on air that they have been invited by Prince William to broadcast Heart Breakfast from the Isles of Scilly.
This news follows a big build up to a major announcement on the station at 8am this morning.
The Prince of Wales will join Jamie and Amanda from the islands as he opens a new wing at the hospital on St Mary’s, this Friday, 22 May.
In a message played on the show this morning, Prince William said he would be visiting to see work supporting the local community and to officially open the new facility, adding that he hoped the presenters would join him.
He said: “Hi Jamie and Amanda, I’m heading down to the Isles of Scilly, off the coast of Cornwall, on Friday, to see some of the terrific work going on there to support the local community. I’m also opening the new wing of the hospital in St Mary’s, which will be a fantastic moment.
“Amanda, I know how fond you are of Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly, so, it would be really lovely, if you could both come along.
“Have a great morning guys and I very much look forward to seeing you on Friday. Bye!”
The redevelopment has been supported by the Duchy of Cornwall and brings NHS and social care services together in one location.
Heart says the programme will be the station’s first live national broadcast from the Isles of Scilly.
Prince William is also expected to speak to Jamie and Amanda on air about the hospital project and other community initiatives taking place across the islands.
Heart Managing Editor Richard Steel said the station was proud to bring listeners a special programme from the Isles of Scilly and to welcome The Prince of Wales to the show for the first time.
