Rhys James tells Radio X Spurs season ticket cost him £800 a win

Rhys James has revealed just how painful it has been to support Tottenham Hotspur F.C. this season, joking that his season ticket has worked out at an eye-watering £800 for every home win.

The comedian and lifelong Spurs fan joined The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X this morning, where he mixed football misery with his trademark humour.

Asked by Chris whether he was more nervous about appearing on the show or Tottenham’s relegation battle, Rhys admitted the football situation felt far more predictable.

He said: “There’s an inevitability about Spurs being relegated. This booking came out of nowhere, but Spurs has been a slow decline over two years.”

Rhys predicted the drama would go right to the final day of the season, imagining a classic Tottenham collapse when just a single point is needed to stay up.

He joked: “We’re going to need one point to stay up and lose eight-nil.”

The comic then summed up his season in one devastating statistic.

He said: “I have a season ticket at Spurs. This season it has been £800 per win.”

Even before the club’s fortunes worsened, Rhys had already hedged his bets by putting money on the unthinkable.

He revealed: “Five months ago, I put £10 on Spurs to get relegated at 50/1. I saw the future.”

The interview struck a chord with football fans, particularly fellow Tottenham supporters who have endured a difficult campaign.

Rhys James is known for weaving football references into his stand-up, and his Radio X appearance proved he can find comedy even in the bleakest moments of supporting his beloved club.

For Spurs fans, it was a painfully relatable reminder that laughter may be the only thing getting them through the season!!
