Greg James Breakfast Show extended in Radio 1 summer schedule changes

BBC Radio 1 Breakfast with Greg James will run until 11am, Monday – Thursday throughout the summer until September.

Greg says: “No one thinks being on the radio for three and a half hours a day is a real job. And they’re right. How about four? Is that better?”

Also until September, Going Home, Monday – Thursday, 3.30pm-6pm, will be hosted by Sam and Danni for the summer. They’ll be stepping in while Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton are on maternity leave, and Jamie Laing takes a break to focus on filming commitments.

Among the other changes on the station, three new presenters will present Friday Early Breakfast, 5am-7am, on a monthly rotation.

Former Hits Radio’s award-winning Mylo and Rosie will take over in July, followed by Liverpudlian LGBTQ+ presenter, comedian and TikTok star Charley Marlowe taking over in August.

Mylo and Rosie say: “We cannot put it into words how excited we are to be joining the Radio 1 team, it’s a real pinch me moment.

“If we could tell those two mates who started in radio by making tea for the good grown-up presenters that we’d be talking to you now, they wouldn’t have believed you! And we kinda don’t either.

“Our job is to literally make each other laugh every single day so it goes without saying, we hope you’ll have a laugh with us too.”

Charley Marlowe says: “I am absolutely buzzing to be taking over the Friday Early Breakfast show in August.

“I will be playing as much Jane McDonald and Kylie Minogue as the BBC allow. Otherwise, you can expect anything from a show tune to Madonna (not really any less camp, is it?). At least the chaos and confusion will wake you up, so I’ll see you at 5am.”
