Radio 2 in the Park moves to Chelmsford this September

Radio 2 in the Park will take place in Hylands Park, Chelmsford, from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 September, marking the station’s return with its flagship live music festival.
The location was revealed on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show this morning, with Ellie Taylor reporting live from Hylands House and Rylan joining her to celebrate the Essex setting. Scott dubbed Rylan “The Earl of Essex” during the announcement.
Rylan said: “I can’t wait to welcome my Radio 2 family to Chelmsford and have this year’s Radio 2 in the Park right on my doorstep! If there’s one thing I know for certain, it’s that an Essex crowd know how to party.”
The full artist line-up will be revealed on Scott’s show tomorrow morning, and tickets go on sale at 8.30am on Wednesday 4 June via the BBC Radio 2 in the Park website.
Radio 2 will broadcast live from Hylands Park throughout the weekend, with coverage also available on BBC Sounds and iPlayer.
The Friday night DJ party, introduced in Preston last year, will return to kick off a weekend of live performances.
Helen Thomas, Head of Radio 2, called it “our biggest party of the year,” while Chelmsford Council Leader Stephen Robinson described it as “a fantastic opportunity for Chelmsford” that would boost the local economy and attract thousands of music fans to the city.
