Bryan Adams and Tom Grennan to host Easter shows on BBC local radio

Bryan Adams and Tom Grennan will celebrate community heroes in two special programmes on BBC local radio this Easter.

Celebrity chef and broadcaster, Si King, will also celebrate those making a difference in his own special broadcast on Easter Sunday.

The BBC Local Make a Difference campaign launched in March 2020 and was designed to be a virtual noticeboard connecting those in need of help with those able to provide it.

It has now grown into major annual awards that honour everyday unsung heroes across the UK.

The Easter specials with Bryan and Tom will be presented by Gaby Roslin and broadcast across all 39 local radio stations. They will feature Make a Difference Award winners and give them the opportunity to meet their musical heroes.

Make a Difference Award Winners meet Bryan Adams will air Good Friday, 9am – 10am and Make a Difference Award Winners meet Tom Grennan will air Easter Monday, 9am – 10am.

Bryan Adams said of all the winners: “I’m in deep admiration of all that you’ve achieved, it’s just wonderful to hear your stories.”

Tom Grennan, who will also be a judge for the Make a Difference Awards this year, said: “It’s incredible to hear what people are doing for other people, making a difference, and putting their superpowers to work.

“I’m so happy that there are good people in the world. I would love to meet you all and would love you to come to my shows.”

On Easter Sunday 6am – 7am, celebrity chef and broadcaster, Si King, celebrates the spirit of Easter by sharing stories of people making a difference in their communities.

Si said: “These stories are a reminder that we have the power to make a difference, to spread hope and to nurture the spirit of community. Thank you to all those nominated for a Make a Difference award. You really do make life better for others.”

Chris Burns, Controller Local Audio Commissioning, said: “Easter is a significant time on the calendar, and its heartwarming to celebrate our Make a Difference award winners through their remarkable stories.

“Five years on since the campaign began, it’s fantastic to see it thriving and creating such special moments for people who don’t seek the spotlight but deserve it.”
