Fleur East compares notes with Gemma Atkinson on Hits Radio Drive

Fleur East dropped in on Gemma’s Hits Radio Drive this afternoon, to discuss…. guess what!

Strictly Come Dancing of course – what else! She shared some post-Argentine Tango ‘secrets’ with Gemma and co-host Mike Toolan, telling them it was a hot and steamy performance that she’s never had to do anything like it before.

Fleur also revealed that her husband Marcel went with her to rehearsals, and she had been asking him for advice.

“He was like ‘you need to be more sexy, you need to really believe it’, Fleur explained. “Then he was front row at last week’s show and after our performance I went to give him a hug and a kiss and he said, ‘one second, one second’ and went past me to Vito and was like ‘I’m so proud of you bro, I’m so proud of you!’  I was, like – what?!,” She added.

Gemma, who was a contestant on Strictly in 2017, thinks you can usually gauge who will go into the final but, this year is difficult to call.

“Everyone just upped their game last week, everyone was on it. It was amazing. I genuinely can’t say who will get there, obviously we’re rooting for you Fleur and we want you to be there, but you just don’t know it’s different each week,” Gemma told Fleur.

The pair also compared notes on the jive which Fleur and Vito are doing on Saturday night to Abba’s Waterloo. The song has been chosen to represent Eurovision as part of this week’s Strictly theme – 100 Years of Your BBC.

Fleur admitted that the jive had been “relentless” as it’s “so very fast” but Gemma didn’t have any good news for Fleur as she remembered her jive with Alijaz back in 2017: “I had sore hip flexors with the jive and felt like I had shin splits. Does that sound familiar?!,” Gemma joked.
