Jaymi from Union J joins Hits Radio Pride on Saturday afternoons

Union J’s Jaymi Hensley is joining LGBTQ+ radio station Hits Radio Pride to host a series of Saturday afternoon shows from tomorrow, 2pm – 7pm.

Jaymi rose to fame as a member of Union J on The X Factor in 2012, where the band came fourth. Since then he’s appeared on a number of UK shows such as Release The Hounds, Big Brothers Bit On The Side and Celebrity Masterchef, and co-hosted CBBC’S hit show Got What It Takes alongside Lauren Platt.

Last year he toured the UK in the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor and recently announced the launch of his new Christmas album This is Christmas.

Speaking about his new hosting gig, Jaymi said: “Radio and broadcasting have been such a goal and passion for me since being in the entertainment industry, so I am so excited to be joining the Bauer team and Hits Radio Pride.

“Growing up as a gay teenager I always wished I had somewhere that I could escape to. I think what Hits Radio Pride has achieved is incredible and continues to pave the way for a fully inclusive world.”

Paul Gerrard, Programme Director, Hits Radio, added: “We believe that it’s so important to give the LGBTQ+ community a voice – whether that’s through our presenters, the guests we interview or through our Tough Talks series – so we can’t wait to welcome Jaymi to our Hits Radio Pride family. We know that he’s going to bring his charm, fun and the best music to our Saturdays!”

You can listen to Jaymi on Hits Radio Pride online, on smart speakers, through the Hits Radio app and on DAB in London, Liverpool, Bradford, Stoke, Swansea, Norwich, South Yorkshire, Humberside and Northern Ireland.
