Disney to partner with Simon Mayo’s new Scala Radio show
Simon Mayos mid-morning show on Scala Radio will be sponsored by Disney for the first six months.
Other sponsors getting involved with the digital station from launch include AJ Bell, Bensons for Beds, Davidstow Cheddar, Emerald Waterways, Kilimanjaro Live Ltd promoting Andrea Bocelli & Hans Zimmer, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Salisbury International Arts Festival, Sandals Resorts, and Royal Historic Palaces.
Simon Kilby, Chief Revenue Officer Bauer Media said: “Our insight has uncovered a modern audience using films as a gateway to classical music and this launch partnership with Disney for Simon’s first commercial show is a brilliant fit for the cultural explorers of Scala Radio.
“This bespoke creative campaign will capture our audience’s imagination with the most eagerly-awaited Disney titles arriving in 2019 accompanied by a modern classical soundtrack fitting of its place in modern life.”
The bespoke Scala Radio and Disney campaign, which is brokered by OMD, runs from 4th March until 4th August and encompasses branded content across radio and digital platforms featuring a suite of individual Disney entertainment products.
In addition to he weekday show, Simon Mayo will also host a Saturday show from 10am till 1pm, which looks like this:
10am – Countdown of the Official Scala Singles Chart – compiled by the Official Charts Company and featuring the most streamed classically inspired tracks across the UK from the past week..
11am – Nigel Barden on food and drink..
12pm – Simon introduces an author to the Scala Radio Book Club. Confirmed guests include Melvyn Bragg (9th March), Emily Dean (16th March) and David Hepworth (23rd March).
Scala Radio launches this Monday morning at 10.
