Tinchy Stryder reveals being ‘attacked’ by dog while live on the radio
Tinchy Stryder has revealed he once carried on MCing after being attacked by a dog while performing live on a pirate radio station.
The UK grime star shared the story while appearing on Capital XTRA Breakfast with Robert Bruce and Shayna Marie ahead of his Capital XTRA Fully Reloaded takeover show on bank holiday Monday.
During the chat, Tinchy looked back on his early music career in East London and recalled growing up around fellow grime pioneer Dizzee Rascal.
“We grew up, like, we chilled together. He was just a couple years older than me,” he said.
Tinchy explained how his love for MCing started through youth clubs, pirate radio stations and travelling around London to perform.
He said people around him always encouraged him to continue because of his unique delivery and voice.
Tinchy said: “People keep telling you, ‘But you know what? You’ve got something that stands out, man.’”
The rapper then stunned the Capital XTRA hosts with a wild story from his pirate radio days.
He said: “I love music so much, I went to this radio station before, and the dog that was looking after the place attacked me.”
Robert Bruce reacted in shock before Tinchy explained it was a Staffordshire bull terrier.
He laughed: “People at home thinking, ‘What?’ You can hear me kind of shouting.”
Despite the chaos, Tinchy revealed he went straight back on air afterwards.
“And after that, I went back on the mic and MC’d,” he added.
Robert Bruce replied: “Wow!”
Tinchy then joked: “Don’t tell me I don’t like MCing!”
