Scott Mills visits Joan Collins at home for Radio 2 Christmas special
Joan Collins invited Scott Mills round to her London home as he celebrates her seven decades in showbiz.
From Dynasty to Damehood, Joan has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a Golden Globe Award; she’s an icon of the big and small screens, and is an author, a mother, and of course, a Dame.
Scott is a self-confessed Dynasty superfan, growing-up in the 80s he was hooked on the antics of the Carringtons.
Joan played one of the most formidable characters of the decade, the shoulder-pad wearing, pond-fighting and fearsome Alexis Colby. She tells Scott about her time on the show and how it was never meant to last as long as it did. Plus, they discuss those infamous fight scenes and some of Alexis’ most iconic lines.
Scott says: “My mind is blown, I went to Joan Collins’ house! It’s going to take me a while to process this, but it was incredible. She is iconic, fabulous, one of a kind, the last of a generation… a true superstar!”
Joan’s career began in the 1950s, being branded ‘Britain’s Bad Girl’ after rising to fame when she appeared in the film adaptation of I Believe In You.
She went on to star in a string of Hollywood movies throughout the 60s and 70s, before accepting the unexpected role of a lifetime in Dynasty.
Joan’s subsequent appearances span everything from Benidorm and Ab Fab, to panto and a one-woman stage show. She’s been a columnist since the early 90s and is a successful author, selling more than 50 million novels to date.
