Gordon Smart to host weeknight show on BBC Radio 5 Live

Award-winning journalist and broadcaster Gordon Smart is the new host of BBC Radio 5 Live’s late show, Monday to Thursday 10pm-1am.

Gordon, who has been with the station for over a year, will continue to present his Sunday show 8pm-10pm.

On his new appointment, Gordon said: “I am thrilled to be given the weeknights gig on 5 Live. It has been such a privilege working with the hugely talented team here over the last 18 months.

“The welcome I’ve been given from staff and listeners has been really special and I’m really looking forward to getting to know them even better.

“I love the station and have been a huge fan for a long time. I can’t wait to get stuck in alongside some of the best in the business.”

BBC Radio 5 Live Controller, Heidi Dawson added: “Late night radio listeners need a presenter who’s great company, and Gordon definitely is that. A sharp journalist and brilliant storyteller with great sporting insights, Gordon will be a fantastic companion for our evening audiences.”

Gordon will start his new late night show on Monday 1 January at 10pm.
