BBC Radio 2 wants to know Your Ultimate Madonna Song

The music of Madonna will be celebrated on BBC Radio 2 on New Years Day including a countdown of her 40 most favourite songs voted by listeners.

Voting for Your Ultimate Madonna Song was launched by Zoe Ball during her Breakfast Show this morning.

You can vote for up to five of your favourite tracks from Madonna’s 61 Top Ten UK hits until the polling closes on Friday 8 December at 4pm.

Scott Mills will host the Top 40 countdown which will feature facts, stats and behind the scenes insights in archive interview clips with Madonna and collaborators including Nile Rodgers and William Orbit.

There will also be contributions from famous fans such as Alesha Dixon, Gabrielle, Louise, Vicky McClure, Mark Owen, Faye Tozer and more.

Scott says: “Madonna has been an incomparable trailblazer since she first donned her lace fingerless gloves in 1983 and burst into the UK charts. What a dream for me to be able to spend three hours counting down Radio 2 listeners’ favourite tracks so please cast your votes now!”

Two more specials will also air on Radio 2 on New Year’s Day and will be available with the countdown on BBC Sounds in the Madonna Collection from Boxing Day:

Michelle Visage: My Queen – Madonna is an hour devoted to Michelle’s idol which is on Radio 2, 5-6pm. This is followed by Madonna at the BBC from 6-7pm, featuring BBC radio and television archive interviews discussing her rise to fame and fortune, her ambition, reinvention and controversies alongside key songs.
