Ken Bruce’s PopMaster set to be adapted for TV show

One of the most famous radio quizzes is to be adapted for TV, as Ken Bruce’s PopMaster is to air on More 4.

The news has been confirmed by Channel 4 and comes almost a week after Ken relaunched the quiz on his new Greatest Hits Radio show following his departure from BBC Radio 2 after three decades.

Ken says: After all these years we are finally bring PopMaster to the telly where we’ll be challenging music lovers from around the country to not only recall a range of facts and stats about chart toppers and beyond over the decades, but to do so under the glare of studio lights and with the added pressure of television cameras. I can’t wait to get started – and find out whether I might have a face for TV after all!

PopMaster began in 1998 during Ken’s morning show on Radio 2. Over the years there have been specials including an all day celebrity version and going on the road to hold the quiz in workplaces.

There was even an unexpected question in January 2021 when PopMaster had its first Marriage proposal, as contestant Shar Doherty from Glasgow popped the question to her partner Matthew Geddes. Matthew said ‘yes’, of course.

Now Ken, who owns the rights to the quiz, says he’s looking forward to seeing if he has a ‘face for TV’ as he hosts the six-part show for Channel 4 spin-off More 4.

Meanwhile, PopMaster continues weekdays at 10.30am during the Ken Bruce morning show on Greatest Hits Radio.
