Ken Bruce to leave BBC Radio 2 earlier than expected

Ken Bruce says Radio 2 wants him to leave the station earlier than he expected to.

His contract runs until the end of March, which he intended to honour, but he now says the BBC wants him to leave before then.

Posting on Twitter, Ken said: “I will be presenting my last show on Radio 2 next Friday. I had intended fulfilling my contract until the end of March but the BBC has decided it wants me to leave earlier.

“Let’s enjoy the week ahead.”

This comes after it was announced earlier, that Vernon Kay will take over the morning slot slot in May.

Ken starts his new show on Greatest Hits Radio on 3 April.
