If you still listen to Absolute Radio on Medium wave, or AM, then get ready to make some changes from February.

The station is switching off 1215 AM after 30 years of broadcasting on the waveband, including many years as Virgin Radio.

Transmitting across the country using AM is very expensive and most people can now listen to the station, and its many decades and specialist music stations, on DAB Digital Radio.

Absolute Radio launched on AM (as Virgin Radio) 30 years ago in 1993 using predominantly 1215 kHz along with fill-in relays on 1197, 1233, 1242 and 1260. Some of these have been turned off in recent years in places such as Devon, Merseyside and Tayside.
