Magic Breakfast’s Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott launch toy appeal

Ronan and Harriet have officially launched this year’s ‘Mission Christmas’ in London’s Covent Garden.

Mission Christmas is the annual campaign run by charity Cash for Kids and is the largest Christmas toy appeal in the UK.

Last year, the campaign collected over £14.1 million in gifts and cash donations, which was used to make sure that 267,547 children and young people had presents to open on Christmas Day.

Many families are struggling with the cost of living crisis and as a result, the charity is expecting record levels of requests for help this year and has already received applications for more than 220,000 children across the UK.

In addition to Magic Radio, other Bauer stations Hits Radio, Greatest Hits Radio and Absolute Radio are supporting the appeal. This means the fundraiser is backed by many other personalities including Fleur East, Gemma Atkinson, Simon Mayo, Dave Berry and Emma B.

Ronan Keating said: “It’s heart-breaking to think that this Christmas there will be children waking up across the UK with no presents to open. But we know that after another tough year more and more families are struggling to even get by day to day. That’s why we want to help out Santa by making sure that even more young people in the UK can be given some Christmas cheer this year.

Harriet Scott added: “People across the country have always been so amazingly generous when it comes to Mission Christmas, so we’re asking if you can, please just buy one extra gift this year and our amazing team will make sure that it goes to a child who truly deserves it.”

If you’d like to donate to the appeal, you can find out more on the Cash For Kids website.
