Liverpool singer welcomes Scott Mills to Radio 2 with a surprise

Scott Mills launched his new show on BBC Radio 2 this afternoon and had a surprise from a fan.

Toni, a singer from Liverpool, enjoys listening to Scott and appeared on his first show to tell him she had a present for him.

Scott was intrigued and wanted to know more. Toni told him that she and her keyboard player from The Toni James Band wanted to create something as a welcome to Radio 2.

The surprise was that Toni had recorded her own version of Backstreet’s Back by Backstreet Boys with new lyrics about Scott, which was then played.

Earlier this morning Scott was welcomed to his first official day at the station, as a guest on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show.

To balance things, Scott had Zoe and travel guy Richie Anderson on his show to play the first round of the new quiz Speed Mates, where work mates find out how much they know about each other. Richie was the winner, but Zoe said that it’s a great game and she loves it!

It was a great start to a new era for Scott!
