“Are you on Strictly?” Stormzy asks Hits Radio’s Fleur East
Stormzy was on the Hit Radio Breakfast Show this morning where he asked Fleur East if she’s a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
The legendary rapper was on Fleur’s show to talk about his latest single, Hide & Seek, but also shared his thoughts on Black History Month and which reality TV show he would want to be a part of – to Fleur’s disappointment it wasn’t Strictly!
Of course, not everyone watches Strictly, and it sounds like Stormzy might be one of them. When the topic of reality TV came up, he asked Fleur: “Are you on Strictly?”
He then said that he knows the programme is king of them all and added: “I’m going to watch Strictly now, I’m going to tune in, and if you’re listening come on man, you got her in the bottom two you need to vote on Saturday night, it’s not nice to have her in the bottom two!”
When asked if he’d go on a reality show, Stormzy said he’d prefer to be a judge on X Factor. He did that one year, when he joined Nicole Scherzinger: “It was amazing. I had a great time! I want to do that when I hang up my mike,” he said.
He also said that he’d like to go on Big Brother – not the celebrity one, but the “civilian” one, where he could just be himself.
“I’ve got this theory that I would either be really hated or really loved, no middle ground but I’d miss my dogs so bad though, forget my family I’d miss my dogs man,” he added.

Speaking about the importance of Black History Month, Stormzy said: “We’re not always given the opportunities or credited for our contributions, so championing diversity in every way shape or form I feel like sometimes people mis-interpret that but it’s important to me, that’s who I am.”
On the subject of Glastonbury, he said that he’d love to do it again and hopes he gets another opportunity. “Legends like Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys; bands who have done it a few times and I would love to be a part of that class who come back. I’ll be there again I’m sure of that,” he said.
Stormzy’s new song is Hide & Seek, which he says, he’s really proud of: “When I hear it, it really makes me feel how artists have made me feel in the past,” he revealed. “Like when I’ve listened to Whitney, Stevie and they just strike a chord in me.
“I’m not saying I’m like Whitney or Stevie – let’s respect the legends here! – but in terms of how music can just strike a chord in people and really hit somewhere you can’t even describe? That’s what this song does with me, so I’m hoping it does it with other people,” he added.
