Lewis Capaldi tells Magic Radio about the feeling of being in One Direction

Lewis Capaldi joined Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott on Magic Radio Breakfast and joked about knowing what it’s like to be in One Direction.

The Scottish singer was on the show to chat about his new single, his trip to Ireland with Niall Horan and his new album.

He revealed the emotions that drove him to write his new song Forget Me. He explained: “I was in a relationship with a lady, we had been in a relationship, and it had been about a year later since I wrote that song, so she seemed to be in a much happier position than I was, and I didn’t like that. In fact, I can say this, I hated it. I wanted her to be miserable, so I wrote this song about it.”

Lewis confirmed that he’s currently single and explained what he looks for in a partner, saying a good sense of humour, low standards and not too worried about the size of certain things! He also joked: “A small lady with small hands.”

Regarding his One Direction comment, he said that he’d recently spent some time with Niall Horan and told Ronan and Harriet there was an embarrassing moment with a busker on the trip.

“So, we were doing a thing for Guinness, so we were well oiled,” Lewis explained. “And we meet this guy Jacob who was a busker and I go up to him and go ‘alrite mate do you know any Niall Horan songs’ and he said ‘no’, he looked at Niall Horan point blank in the face and said no. I mean at least lie. But it was great, it was really good fun. I got a small taste of what it was like to be in One Direction for the day,” he quipped.

With his new single reaching the top of the charts, his fans are eagerly awaiting the release of his new album, which according to the singer has no collaborations on it and is ready to go.

“The album is finished,” confirmed Lewis. “I don’t know when it’s coming out and the title is longer than the first one and the first one was long.”
