“Who wants life without Neighbours?” Natalie Imbruglia tells Heart Breakfast

Natalie Imbruglia has spoken about Neighbours being axed in the UK in an interview on Heart Breakfast with JK and Kelly Brook, who were sitting in for Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden this morning.

The Masked Singer winner and former ‘Neighbours’ star said “I think it would be devastating” and backed fans petitioning for the soap’s return, saying “here’s hoping they pull it off”.

Neighbours, which launched in 1985, was first shown in the UK on the BBC, then moved to Channel 5 22 years ago. Now the channel has reportedly said that it is no longer going to show it. Fans have launched a petition to try and save the Ramsey Street soap.

Natalie said to JK and Kelly: “Oh I think it’s really sad! I mean, who wants life without ‘Neighbours’? Let’s face it.”

She continued: “I think at this point we just thought it was gonna go on forever so, I, you know, people are petitioning. Here’s hoping they pull it off.”

JK said that a lot of people had messaged the show asking what Natalie thought about the news.

She responded: “Well, there’s a character on the show who’s my son! I mean, I think it’d be devastating. What’s going to happen to my son?”

“Exactly!” JK replied, “Think about Natalie’s son!”

Correcting him, Natalie said: “Not Natalie’s son, Beth Brennan’s son!”

Heart Breakfast with JK and Kelly Brook (in for Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden), weekdays from 6:30am – 10am.
