Craig Charles misses radio shows after catching coronavirus

Craig Charles was unable to present his shows on Radio 2 and 6 Music this weekend after revealing he’s come down with coronavirus.

Posting on Twitter, Craig apologised for letting everyone down and said he hoped to be back soon.

The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on BBC Radio 6 Music last night was covered by Stuart Maconie and The Craig Charles House Party on BBC Radio 2 was covered by OJ Borg. He was also due to appear at Pub in the Park in Marlow.

Revealing the news, Craig tweeted: “Okay guys I don’t want to alarm but I’ve caught the Covid.

“Breathing is a bit laboured which is a worry but I’ve got an oxymonitor so, so far no hospital.

“Starting to feel a bit better. But have to isolate.

“Sorry to let everyone down. Back soon.”

There have been hundreds of supportive responses wishing him a speedy recovery.

In July it was announced that Craig is to take over the weekday afternoon show on BBC 6 Music in October, following Shaun Keaveny’s decision to leave the station.

At the time, Craig said: “I’m made up to be able to present a brand-new show on 6 Music later this year. So, join me each weekday afternoon for a cup of tea, a chat and where I’ll be playing some cracking tunes from across the musical spectrum. I can’t wait to get started – bring it on!”

He’ll continue to host his current weekend shows on 6 Music and Radio 2.

We wish Craig a speedy recovery and hope he’s back to normal soon.
