Jazz FM’s Soul Weekender includes shows from Philip Bailey and Beverley Knight
This Bank Holiday Monday (31 August), Jazz FM is celebrating soul music with a day of special programmes, including Philip Bailey and Beverley Knight presenting their own shows.
The station will be playing soul and jazz funk all day with guest presenters making up the special schedule.
Robbie Vincent will be making a welcome return to the station after his last special in May.
Posting on Twitter about his special show which will include an hour of dance floor classics, Robbie said: “Been a real challenge putting together a dance floor hour for Bank Holiday Soul Weekender show on Jazz FM. It is looking good but to be honest a full week of shows is not enough, but I’ll do my best.”

Earth Wind and Fire’s Philip Bailey will play smooth soul vocals and instrumentals, he’ll also be revealing some stories from on the road with one of the world’s biggest bands.
As one of the UK’s best soul and R&B singers, Beverley Knight will select some of the most memorable soul voices to play in her show.
Northern Soul authority and DJ Richard Searling also makes a return to Jazz FM for the Soul Weekender special day with two hours of Northern classics and listener memories.
Jazz FM’s Content Director Nick Pitts says: “Back in April, Jazz FM broadcast its first themed day – UK Music Day – and it was a critical success where we also featured our first ever virtual jazz festival recorded in lockdown.
“We decided that we’d revisit the music-themed idea later in the year and create a celebration of soul and jazz funk, which gave us the chance to really plan some special content and programmes.
“I’m so pleased to welcome our many guest presenters and curators – many of whom have been friends of Jazz FM over the years to help us make the day so special.”
