Former Renault driver Jolyon Palmer is joining BBC 5 live’s Formula One commentary team.
He’ll take his seat alongside Jennie Gow and Jack Nicholls as they cover all the action of the forthcoming season, starting with the Australian Grand Prix on 25 March.
Palmer will also feature on the BBC Sport website, analysing all the action and giving insight into areas of the sport not often seen.
He drove for Renault in the 2016 and 2017 seasons and so is well placed to bring behind the scenes updates plus race and tactical analysis throughout the season.
The BBC’s F1 coverage includes live radio and text commentary from every race in the F1 season, as well as preview shows, live coverage of the practice and qualifying sessions and video analysis.
Jolyon Palmer said: “I’ve worked with Jennie and Jack a lot but am more used to being grilled by them! It’s going to be great joining them in the commentary team and to get to ask the questions myself.
“I’m fascinated to see how the inter-team rivalry plays out and hope I’ll be able to bring my own knowledge of the personalities involved to shed further light on the relationships.”
